Your files

Files you add to any tool are processed on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no copy of them, no record of their names or contents, and no way to recover them. See no upload for how to check this.

What we don’t collect

• No accounts, names, email addresses or payment details.
• No advertising, no ad networks and no affiliate links.
• Nothing about your files: not their contents, not their names, not their sizes.

The one analytics script

Since 20 September 2026 the site loads Microsoft Clarity, which tells us which pages people use and where they get stuck. It is the only third-party script on the site, and it is the only reason anything is sent anywhere.

What it records: the pages you visit, roughly where you came from, your browser, device type and approximate region, and how you move through a page — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement.

What it cannot record: anything about your files. The whole tool area of every page is marked so that Clarity blanks it out, which covers file names, result names and the details each tool reports. Your files themselves are never part of the page in a form anything can send: they stay in your device’s memory. The network log on every tool page lists Clarity’s requests as they happen, marked STATS, so you can watch exactly what leaves and see that your file does not.

Clarity sets two cookies (_clck and _clsk) to tell one visit from the next. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it holds those back until consent is given, so if you are in those regions no cookie is set. What Microsoft does with the data is covered by the Microsoft privacy statement.

To opt out entirely, block clarity.ms in your browser or an ad blocker, or turn on “Do Not Track” — the tools on this site keep working exactly the same, because they never needed a server in the first place.

What our hosting records

Like every website, FixMyFiles is delivered by web servers and a content delivery network (Cloudflare). They keep standard, short-lived technical logs of requests: the address of the page, the time, your IP address and browser type. These logs are used only to keep the site running and protect it from abuse, and they are deleted on the providers’ normal schedule. They never contain your files, because your files are never sent.

What is stored in your browser

• Preferences, such as light or dark theme, in local storage.
• Offline copies of pages and engines (such as FFmpeg) you have used, so the tools work without a connection.
• The two analytics cookies described above, where they are set.

Both stay on your device, are never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time in your browser’s settings for this site.

Email

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply. We don’t add you to a list, and we delete correspondence we no longer need.

Children

FixMyFiles doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. We’ll never change it to start collecting your files.
